English Pocket Opera’s The Magic Flute

Support for the Opera Education Residency 2005/2006, involving over 54,000 children in 270 schools through in-school presentations, workshops and theatre performances.

PMF supports the 15th season - June-July 2006 - which includes the UK premieres of Michael Nyman’s opera Love Counts (text by Michael Hastings) and Xavier Dayer’s Les Aveugles (The Blind, based on Maeterlinck’s short play), and the London premiere of The Original Chinese Conjuror, a music theatre work by Raymond Yiu and Lee Warren.
ENO September 2005 – July 2006 season

Peter Moores Foundation is making a substantial contribution to the new production of The Makropulos Case, conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras and directed by Christopher Alden. The refurbishment of Jonathan Miller’s production of Rigoletto is also being funded.

Pmf supports the production in July 2006 of The Fair Maid of Perth by Georges Bizet. Libretto by Vernoy and Adenis, based on Sir Walter Scotts’s novel in a new translation by Amanda Holden.
Shostakovich on Stage

PMF supports a ten-day Centenary Festival of the composer’s operas and ballets, presented by Artistic Director Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre (formerly the Kirov Opera and Ballet). The programme includes the operas:
The Nose,
Katerina Izmaylova.
It is at the London Coliseum in July 2006

Edinburgh International Festival

Support got a concert performance of Rossini’s La donna del lago, based on Sir Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. It is to be recorded by Opera Rara in the Usher Hall, 18 August 2006
London premiere by Dance Umbrella of Merce Cunningham’s Ocean.

PMF is supporting specifically the music and educational elements of this project. Roundhouse, September 2006
In November a third addition to the Essential Opera Rara collection is released. Meyerbeer’s L'esule di Granata with Manuela Custer, Laura Claycomb, Mirco Palazzi, the Geoffrey Mitchell Choir, and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields conducted by Giuliano Carella, was conceived on a large canvas.
