Opera
'Margherita, the widow of Henry VI, is sung with grace and a firm lyric soprano by Annick Massis, who gives equal measure to the character's queenly bearing and her human dimension as mother and lover. Bruce Ford brings his familiar, liquid tenor to the music of.... the Duke of Lavarenne.. At first Isaura (his wife) seems like a secondary role but she ends up with the final rondo... Daniela Barcellona delivers them with flair - hers is a big old-fashioned mezzo.' |
